Target Audience Profile.

During this lesson we learnt about target audience, and how to choose audiences etc. We then had to choose a videogame and make a target audience profile for it. I chose Just Dance 2 and this is what I did:

I chose a very urban font for the title, as the video game is fun and urban.

For companys that would sponsor this videogame, I chose energy drinks, vans, adidas, forever 21, and wii. They all are for different reasons. Enery drinks because you would need energy to play this game etc. I did vans and forever 21 for a stylish/fashion side of the game. Adidas for the sporty side of the game. And wii because the only console Just Dance 2 is available on is wii.

Age/Education: I thought the ages would be 9 to 38 because its a fun game for everyone. And i think for the more 30+ I feel like you would only have this game if you had a kid or younger siblings/niece/nephew etc, who are currently studying.
Gender: For the gender I thought it was more of a female than a male, this is because I think females are more into dance then males.
Social class/Wealth: I think this is for all classes, but as long as you are financially comfortable, because it is on the pricey side, like all other games.
Location: This is more city, town game, because of its price and the fact that its a console game, and is very technological.

Typography.

In this lesson we were learning about 'Typography' which is the fonts that you use for different things.

We had to write a range of words in different fonts and colours that would suit that certain word. Here is what i did:

Mistake: For the word mistake, i thought id use an informal font and one that wouldnt be good to use. I did this because using fonts like "Harrington" (the one i used here) would be a mistake in media. I did the colour red because when theres a warning, or somethings wrong, its in red.

Emperor: For Emperor I used the font "Goudy Stout" which is a sans serif font. I also thought it should be big because Emperors are quite big people.

Elastic: For Elastic I chose the font "Gigi" This is because its very bendy, and flowy.

Harmony: I did "Segoe Print" for Harmony because I thought it was quite flowing and Harmony is a quite calm flowing word. I chose the colour yellow, because I thought it just fit with the word.

Falling: This is one of my favourites. I chose the font "Cold night for Alligators" Because theres leaks coming down and its like theyre falling.

Peronsality(small): I chose two compeltely different colours and fonts for personality, because there are so many different personalities and I feel like these were to main ones. The "Aparijita" font which is quite simple, quiet and shy.

Peronality(big): For the second one i chose "Goudy Stout" because some people are very confident, bubbly and outgoing. I also did different colours because I felt like you get different personalities.

The last thing we had to do was choose a word to expand on, which images etc. I chose the word "Falling".

I added on an effect which was "Inner Glow" and "Gradient Overlay". The inner glow just made it stand out and pop, and the gradient overlay made the word fade from red to black which was cool. The other thing I added was a blur towards the bottom of the word, because it makes a fading/falling effect. Lastly, I included the image of a man falling.

Camera shots - storyboard.

In this lesson we had studied all the different camera shots and angles there are. We then had to go and take pictures ,doing those angles and shots, and make a story board.

Establishing shotThis is so the audience can see the scene/setting.
The audience would know where they are as you can see that the bullies have approached the victim behind a building, so no one can see.

High angle: This shot makes the "victim" look small.
The victim is casually walking, face down, and you can see the bullies a tiny bit following him. The audience would want to warn the victim, and would feel bad for him.

Low angle: This makes the subject look big and powerful.
Here are the bullies targetting the victim while theres no one around. This could make the audience feel intimidated by them already, as they do look quite big.

Over the shoulder: This shot is to show all subjects during a conversation.
Here are all of the characters during a conversation, the bullies are verbally bullying. The audience can see what the victims expressions are, however they cant see the bullies.

Medium shot: This is when the subject(s) head to waist is the only thing visible.
One of the bullies is laughing at the victim. The audience would almost feel as if the character was pointing at the audience.

Over the shoulder and Medium.
The victim is being punched on the face by the bully.

Medium close up: Shows only head and shoulders. Shows the subjects emotions, and some background.
This is a close up of the punch. Because its a close-up the audience can actually see the punch like theyre right there.

Extreme close up: Detail and emphasis on whatever object.
The victim has been hurt, and is now crying. With this extreme close up the audience would feel sympathy for the character.

Medium shot and High angle.
As they repeatedly abuse him, he tries to protect himself. As you can see him being harmed, the audience would again feel sorry for him.

Long shot: The head and toe are visible, quite alot of background.
The character has been left in the corner, to cry.

Colours (Fruit Bowl) Task.

In todays lesson we had to choose a word, and create a colour palette of colours that represent the word.

This is my palette. Pastel colours are very matte and simple, however vibrant colours are bubbly and colourful.
The next thing we had to do was a colour a bowl of fruit with those same base colours. I chose pastel. The first thing we had to do was look up the word on google and find a suitable image with similar colours. This is the picture i found:

I had to get the fruit bowl image and the image ubove in one photoshop page, and had to use the tool 'Eyedropper' to find the colours used in the chosen image and paste it into the fruit bowl. I had to use the right colours, to see if my Pastel Palette  and The Pastel image used similar colours. This is what my fruit bowl turned out to look like:

Video Game Advertisement - Key Conventions.

The video game that I have chosen to analyse is Pacman. Here is a picture of the advertisement.

LANGUAGE: The title is catchy, short and sweet. Also, theres a little advertisement slogan which is "Its The game everyone is waiting for"  Most of the main information that they want to standing out is in a different colour and is bold.

INSTITUTION: The game was produced by Atari in the 1980s and is available on many platforms (computer, phone, consoles) It started of with this just being an arcade game, but as it became alot more popular it escalated into various platforms. It was immensly successful, even today it is played alot.

AUDIENCE: This looks like it would be a mixed gender game, but maybe towards young kids, teenagers, people in there 20s. So a rough target audience would be 10-35, this is because it is a very oldschool game so older people would play it. etc.

REPRESENTATION: The main cover is just a pacman with the little ghosts. This just symbolizes whats characters you will come across throughout the game etc.The main image used on the cover is the main characters in the game: Pacman, and the Ghosts. Also the background has abit of the game setting. They have used a variety of different colours such as: yellow, pink, red, green, blue, orange etc.
